Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the previous five grands prix.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the high-speed corner approaching the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th place, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
