Vinted Users Share Frustration About Size Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Stories
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Required Changes
A different user, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
